70 years of Savoir-faire
Celebrating a unique family heritage of fine jewellery making since 1950, the Maison’s master craftsmen put absolute emphasis on product sustainability and exceptional craftsmanship instead of fast fashion disposability. Today, we are one of the very few Jewellers in Asia who continues to instil the timeless beauty of classic fine jewellery into the practicability of jewellery wearing for modern living.
Craftsmanship
The Maison favours simple and timeless appeal as we combine the eclecticism of traditional jewellery making with contemporary minimalist designs for men and women of grace. Design inspiration were drawn from the phenomenal beauty in the natural world as well as from the exceptional cultural and historical elements to bring forth a sophisticated appeal to each of our exquisite creation.
The Atelier
Since 1970s, the Maison’s workshop situated in the heart of UNESCO city George Town has been a testament to the heritage and technical prowess of handcrafting fine jewellery through our countless creations commissioned by clientele across the world.
Artisan’s Touch
Subtle and ornate, artisan’s touch is an almost intangible quality that seems closer to art than science. It is the gentle flow of the curves and the indescribable softness to the jewellery art that impart graceful concave, not quite like the rigid calculation of the machine, but the feeling of metal crafted by highly skilled human hands that transforms a design into a precious work of art.

Timeline
Martin Clement Ng, a self-taught jeweller began his lifelong profession by receiving custom orders from trade associates.
Martin Clement Ng (Last Row Left 1) was invited to attend Kedah’s Royal Family celebration at the Palace.
At the age of 18, Jude Ng, the second generation in the family, also self-taught his way to learn the intricate skills of handcrafting fine jewellery. With fervent passion in gemology, he then spent his proceeds on precious gem collection.
Jude’s desire to create beautiful and long lasting jewelleries led him to found Kae Jih, The Hobby House of Gems, at the heart of UNESCO World Heritage Georgetown, which is still in operation until today.
Jude’s 2 younger brothers joined the firm, both are Graduated Gemologists, one from Gemological Institute of America and another, Gemmological Association of Great Britain.
Jude Ng married Jo Loo, a Jewelry Designer whose passion for jewelry art is exceptionally ardent.
Over the years and decades that followed, they became jewellers specializing in handcrafted bespoke jewelry, a lot of commissions were made by the officers in the Royal Australian Airforce (RAAF) based in Penang.
Dorothy Jen Ng, the 3rd generation jeweller came of age. Her passion for customized jewellery and knowledge of gemstones were inherited from many generations of family heritage.
With unyielding spirit towards gemology and jewellery art, Dorothy established Frou Frou Fine Jewellery for the urban young consumers.
The Frou Frou Private Gallery was opened in Georgetown, Penang followed by Kuala Lumpur the next year.
Dealing with the rapid decline of jewellery craftsmen across the world, Dorothy Jen Atelier is established to offer education and hands-on experience on traditional jewellery art in hope to sustain this unique legacy.
